The dodge for the 10 armour limitation was the armour of gluttony and the ring of defence, both boosting above what would normally be possible. Once that happens you can drink and sell it, potentially gaining it multiple times. There are 3-4 dealer cards that give equipment in this scenario and once the equipment deck runs out it pulls from the starting equipment instead - which can include the healing potion despite it not contained in the deck. The theory was that some blessings would provide indirect life gain to keep things going long enough to empty the equipment deck. Winning strategy for challenge #1 I focused on blessings and equipment. Perhaps, I'd be up for trying something, particularly if I've list of challenges by then, but some things might be hard to implement (like the special rule in challenge 2 that I've just put up).
